About

Rhode Island College is proud to house the complete collection of one of its most celebrated graduates, Ron McLarty. McLarty earned his B.A. in English from Rhode Island College in 1969 and went on to become an acclaimed novelist (The Memory of RunningArt in America, Traveler) while working as an actor on the stage, television and film.

In 2017 McLarty donated his original manuscripts of novels, plays and poems, his extensive audiobook narrations, photos, reviews and biography to be permanently housed in RICs Special Collections at James P. Adams Library.

Organization and cataloguing of the collection began in 2018 by the Special Collections. In partnership with Digital Initiatives, they are endeavoring to present an open-access digital archive of items from the McLarty Collection. The physical collection can be browsed in person by making an appointment with the Special Collections Department.
